How did Basketball start?

Basketball is a popular team sport that originated in the United States in the late 19th century. The game was invented by Dr. James Naismith, a Canadian physical education instructor who was trying to create a new game to keep his students active during the winter months.

According to the story, Dr. Naismith was trying to come up with a game that could be played indoors, as the weather in Massachusetts was too cold for outdoor sports. He thought about various sports and games and eventually hit upon the idea of using a ball and baskets to create a new game. He wrote down the rules of the game and hung a peach basket at each end of the gymnasium. The baskets had their bottoms removed so that the ball could be retrieved after it was scored.

The first game of basketball was played on December 21, 1891, with nine players on each team. The game quickly gained popularity and spread to other schools and colleges in the United States. In 1936, basketball was included as an Olympic sport for the first time. Today, basketball is played at all levels, from amateur to professional, and is enjoyed by people all around the world.
